One of the factors motivating users of legacy applications to modernize is the announced end of life of the supporting hardware platforms. They are, in many cases, being phased out by the manufacturer, which means the cost and risks associated with supporting these applications increase significantly. The HP e3000 is one such platform that has a significant number of customers who run Legacy applications. By 2010 it was no longer be supported by HP, leaving these clients to manage the increased risk of obsolescense.
